About Me

To briefly introduce myself, I'm a Korean girl who loves baseball! I started watching baseball when I was in elementary school, and I think I started watching baseball at a young age because of the influence of my father, who also loved baseball. Also, the house I lived in when I was young was a 15-minute walk from the baseball stadium. Even after the recent move, the house I lived in was also a 10-minute bus ride away from the baseball stadium! It’s a pretty good environment to like baseball, right?

I am currently an exchange student in the United States. As someone who loves baseball, my dream in the United States is to watch baseball games in person. I want to experience what American baseball stadiums are like and what the cheering culture is like. In particular, I became very interested in the San Francisco Giants because my favorite star player in our team just moved to the MLB! I decided to watch MLB as my favorite player made it to the major leagues. Just like me, who had never watched MLB before, I think you might have a chance to watch KBO in the future. KBO

KBO stands for Korea Baseball Organization, which oversees Korean baseball.

It hosts Korean professional baseball games, collects information about baseball, and even trains baseball players, managers, coaches, and referees.

KBO now has 10 teams and all the teams have their hometowns. As Korean professional baseball is centered around hometowns, the formation of a fan base is also greatly influenced by hometown and family. The biggest difference from American baseball is that, unlike MLB, which names a team with a hometown and mascot, KBO names its team with a sponsor and mascot. You probably all know a Korean company called 'Samsung', and the name of the team that Samsung sponsors is called 'Samsung Lions' because its mascot is a lion.

As I'm a big fan of Kiwoom Heroes and since our team has so many players that have advanced to the major leagues that it is nicknamed ‘MLB Military Academy,’ I would like to also talk about the team I support.
